Terms of Service
The terms under which colleges and universities run their campus on Gradlit.
01The service
Gradlit is college management software covering admissions, attendance, examinations, fees and scholarships, placements, alumni and an AI study guide. These terms apply to the college, university or institution that signs up (the institution) and to every user it invites.
02Accounts and users
The institution appoints administrators who create accounts for staff and students and assign roles. Administrators are responsible for keeping the list of users and their roles current, and for removing access when someone leaves.
Users must keep their login credentials private and must not share accounts.
03Free semester
A free semester covers one department, on the modules of the Department plan, for one academic semester from the date of signup. At the end of the free semester, the institution may choose a paid plan or export its data. No charge is made unless a paid plan is chosen.
04Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed per active enrolled student, per semester, at the rate for the chosen plan. Student counts are taken at the start of each semester and adjusted for admissions during the semester.
Invoices are payable within 30 days. Rates for the next semester are confirmed with the institution before the semester begins.
05Institution data
The institution owns all data it enters into the service, including student records, marks, fee records, placement data and study materials. We use that data only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The institution is responsible for having the right to enter the data, including any consent required from students, parents and staff under applicable law and university regulations.
06Academic and admission decisions
Gradlit organises and computes information based on rules configured by the institution. Admission, examination, result, attendance condonation and placement decisions remain the responsibility of the institution and its authorised officers.
AI suggestions, including placement readiness suggestions and study guide explanations, are aids and are not decisions.
07Acceptable use
Users must not:
- Use the service to harass, discriminate against or expose students or staff.
- Upload material they do not have the right to share, including copyrighted textbooks in full.
- Use the AI Study Guide to produce answers for examinations or graded submissions.
- Attempt to access data belonging to another institution or another user's role.
- Interfere with the security or operation of the service.
08Availability and support
We aim to keep the service available at all times, with planned maintenance scheduled outside exam and admission peaks wherever possible and announced to administrators in advance.
Support is available to institution administrators through the service and by email.
09Ending the service
The institution may stop using the service at the end of any semester. On request, we provide a full export of institution data in standard formats before deletion.
We may suspend access for serious breach of these terms, after notifying the institution's administrators where possible.
10Liability
The service is provided with reasonable skill and care. Our total liability for any claim in a semester is limited to the fees paid by the institution for that semester. We are not liable for indirect losses or for decisions made by the institution using information in the service.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
